It can be a nightmare if someone else takes control of your Google Account because all your Google services like Gmail, Orkut, Google Calendar, Blogger, AdSense, Google Docs and even Google Checkout are tied to the same account.

Here are some options suggested by Google Support when your forget the Gmail password or if someone else takes ownership of your Google Account and changes the password:

1. Reset Your Google Account Password:
Type the email address associated with your Google Account or Gmail user name at google.com/accounts/ForgotPasswd– you will receive an email at your secondary email address with a link to reset your Google Account Password. This will not work if the other person has changed your secondary email address or if you no longer have access to that address.

2. For Google Accounts Associated with Gmail:
If you have problems while logging into your Gmail account, you can consider contacting Google byfilling this form.It however requires you to remember the exact date when you created that Gmail account.

3. For Hijacked Google Accounts Not Linked to Gmail:
If your Google Account doesn’t use a Gmail address, contact Google byfilling this form. This approach may help bring back your Google Account if you religiously preserve all your old emails. You will be required to know the exact creation date of your Google Account plus a copy of that original “Google Email Verification” message.It may be slightly tough to get your Google Account back but definitely not impossible if you have the relevant information in your secondary email mailbox.

India's number one social networking site "Orkut" has introduced a "safety filter" that automatically filters out adult content such as sexually suggestive phrases or images.

The filter has been introduced in India, and is turned on by default for all the users. Google plans to introduce it in other countries in the next few weeks.

The new filter monitors and filters the content that may violate Orkut's community standards. The new filter will likely vary from country to country or from one household to another. Users have the option to turn off the filter.

With the "Safety Filter" on, If a user come across the content such as photos or text that they may find unacceptable, they will receive a warning and the specific content will be replaced by special icons.

However, according to Orkut, no filter is fully accurate and so users may come across a page that they think should be blocked. Users can flag it as usual and let Orkut know.

Hey guys here is a way you can make custom theme for orkut.

Works only in mozilla firefox.

Download grease monkey plugin and install it.

Enable greasemonkey and restart firefox.

Click Here and in the text box enter your image location on the internet, in the below box give a name to ur theme and click create theme! now right click on the link and click save link as and save it in a suitable folder.

now run the file u just downloaded, click install and visit orkut!

Remember those good old days when we could just right-click and download photos from Orkut albums. Well Orkut has disabled right clicking on photos other than those images in your own albums. There are numerous Orkut profiles with fake picture copied from genuine users. So, this is indeed a very good move by Orkut to control privacy of its users.

But don't worry friends i have found a solution for this now by following few simple steps you can save pictures of another users:-

1. First Open the photo/image that you want to download.
   
   
2. Click on it and hold down the left mouse key and drag it to the tool bar, and release the mouse key.
   
   
3. Now it should open in a new tab with only the image.
   
   
4. Right Click on the image, and select Save As, browse to the path where you want to save the image and click on save.
